The Trade River Horse Campground in GovernorKnowlesStateForestis gorgeous! With 40 campsites, this facility provides Wisconsin’s vibrant horse community with great access to the Forest’s more than 40 miles of equestrian trails. There are also toilets and water available throughout the campground. The Friends raised the funds for tie lines and fire rings at each site. Volunteers donated over 100 hours of time to install and maintain the tie lines and fire rings. Details Registration - The camp operates on a first-come first serve basis or you can make reservations at Reserve America.
Campsites – There are 40 visitor campsites, including 3 handicap accessible sites. There is also a camp host site. Click to see Map of Campground Sites.
Fees – Campers at the Trade River Campground need Camping fees, Trail passes and a Vehicle Sticker.
Trade River Campground Designated Uses April 1 to June 15 – Equestrian campers only June 15 to August 15 – Equestrian and general public August 15 to October 15 – Equestrian campers only October 15 to April 1 - Equestrian and general public
TradeRiver Day Use Area - This old campground is now a Day Use Area only. No vehicle sticker is required. It will be closed 11PM to 6AM. Overnight camping will not be allowed. Water and toilets are available.
Generator Rules - Campers may operate generators from from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm and only when they are present at the site. Permission to operate may be revoked if generator is excessively loud. If you are camping at a site that offers electricity you must pay the extra $10 per night whether or not you are using the amenity.
Fire Wood Rules - All firewood brought into the Forest must be cut within Wisconsin and no farther away than10 miles. No wood from Minnesota is allowed in the Forest. Click on this link to get more info on the fire wood rules.
